Quesiton:
My dog is not licensed what should I do?

Answer:
The Los Angeles Animal Services has a temporary amnesty on dog licenses till the end of March 2012—so get your pet licensed today! The amnesty is for dogs that were never licensed before or those whose licenses have lapsed.
Register your dog Online - visit www.laanimalservices.org.
This is a new feature and allows you to enter your pet’s information (rabies, sterilization, address) and you can get your pet current.
License fees are $20 for sterilized animals and $100 for unsterilized (plus applicable breeder’s fees). AND 35% of your fees go to support spay neuter vouchers—helping to pay for the surgeries of animals whose owners cannot afford to get their animals fixed.

A New Year a New Reseda
OpEd: By Alexi Chidbachian

As the New Year begins new hopes, ambitions, and renovations begin to occur. People of every age create New Year resolutions in hope of a better year. It’s rare for someone to make a New Year resolution about the city they live in and the people who live there but these teenagers did just that.

“I really hope that Reseda fixes all their roads for a better driving experience”, said 17 year old teenager Camila Freire.

Freire’s main concern for Reseda is for all the streets to be repaved and to have more modernized beautiful buildings and stores. By Reseda living up to these plans and ideas the city’s economy will greatly increase, bringing more business and money flow. As a teenager there’s nothing more crucial for Freire then living in a clean and safe community. A place where she can walk out on the street feeling protected.

Colleen Curtis an 18 year old senior at Reseda High School also believes that the city she lives in should become cleaner and safer. People may think that a teenager can’t help refurbish a city, however those people are wrong. Any one of any age can help beautify a city; whether it’s planting trees at every corner, painting an old building, or picking up trash. Curtis anticipates helping Reseda by cleaning up her school and starting to lead beautification projects at school. By starting these projects numerous teens can come together and help their loving city.

They look forward to seeing a new Reseda flourish in the 2012 year. They also hope that all the renovation plans and ideas the city had last year will finally be put in place. Lets all hope that the New Year brings great transformation, beauty, and happiness to Reseda.

Thank you for this post. This morning, someone parked a service van with no plate in front of my home. I was suspicious at first, but my wife apparently has seen this Vehicle before at A neighbor's house. If the van is not moved within the 72 Hour window i'll make sure to report it. I did take A picture of the Van.

Last Sunday's (1/15/2012) Ride Reseda explored Northridge University. We visited such places as the Botanic Garden, Fuel Cell, the Rain Forest, the soon-to-be-opened Student Rec Center, the Valley Performing Arts Center, and the Orange Grove and Duck Pond. Thanks to the expertise of Rider Glenn Bailey, we received an inside view of the campus.

This Sunday, 1/22, we are going to POSTPONE the ride due to weather. Those of you still eager to ride can follow any of our previous routes - just make sure to bring a poncho or a raincoat.

Question:
My neighbor places their trashcans on the street curbside 24 hours, 7 days a week is that legal?

Answer:
Trash Containers cannot be placed/left on the street 24 hours before/after pickup.
If someone is doing this and you complain about it, they will inspect:
1st offense is a warning letter.
2nd offense requires a mandatory meeting at the dept of Sanitation office.
3rd offense: Trash bins are taken away from the residence/collection service is suspended. That address will have to hire a private collection company.
Inforced by dept of Sanitation.

Reason - Trash bins are city property and pose a liability hazard to motorists if left on the street. City doesn’t want to be held liable because their property is in the street and causes and accident/injury.

The easiest method of reporting is to call 311 between 8-4 M-F.

Question:
I am a resident of Reseda, CA and I have a question about parking.
What are the rules for street parking of car, private trucks, trailers, or boats?

Answer:
The following general provisions of law apply whether or not there are signs or curb markings present: No vehicle may be parked continuously at one location on any public roadway for more than 72 hours.
With the term vehicle covering all items in your question.
The above is enforced by LADOT traffic officers.
The easiest method of contacting the above is to call 311 between 8-4 M-F.

My wife and I went to Aura's (http://aurasxquisitfoods.com/) last month for the first time. We heard about this restaurant through the emails we got from the Reseda Neighborhood Council about spending $25 on the 25th of every month. Aura's was on the email list, so my wife and I decided to check it out for breakfast. Aura's offers organic coffee and teas, smoothies, yogurt, different desserts, fresh juices, as well as breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I now have been back several times for breakfast and LOVE this place. I have tried a couple of their breakfast options (I highly recommend their waffle, egg, and potatoes meal) a few of the smoothies, their orange juice, and vanilla frappuccino. Everything that I have tried has been fantastic! I have read several positive reviews on yelp about their lunch and dinner foods as well, so I'm really looking forward to coming back for lunch and dinner. Also, Aura's staff have all been very friendly and the restaurant has a very relaxing ambiance with nice decor and lighting. There are 3 big screen TV's, free wi-fi, a bar with stools, and lots of space and tables. Please go support Aura's. You will want to go back again and again:)

Alexi - I would challenge your negative look at the Reseda of the 90's & early 2000s. I have been a member of this community for almost 30 years, & my extended family has lived here since the 1950s. This community is filled with hard working families & business, dedicated schools & organizations, & great Churches. And it always has been. Reseda, like any city, has some safety issues that the community, with involved stakeholders & neighborhood watch groups, continues to address. However, I don't feel at any point Reseda was what your first line in your article implies. It's easy to let a few negative events in a great community put a sour taste in your mouth, but in reality this is a great community, always has been, and will continue to be because Reseda is made up of dedicated, passionate people.
